How this is worked out
  • Unbilled revenue = fee-earning team × charge-out rate × unrecorded hours a week × chargeable weeks a year
  • Recovered value applies your recovery target to that figure; the defaults assume half is captured
  • A working day is 7.5 hours; working days saved = recovered hours ÷ 7.5
  • Charge-out rate to set = staff cost per hour ÷ (1 minus your target margin)
  • Markup is profit as a share of cost; margin is profit as a share of the rate you bill
  • Charge-out rate is what you bill clients per hour, not what staff cost you
  • Unrecorded hours cover work either side of the clock: unlogged calls, emails, site visits, and chasing missing timesheets
  • An estimate, not a quote. Your figures will differ
How It Works

The calculation, in plain terms

No black box: four inputs, one multiplication, and a realistic recovery target.

📉

What leaks away

We multiply your fee-earning team by their average charge-out rate, the unrecorded hours each person loses in a week, and your chargeable weeks in a year. That is revenue your practice earned but never invoiced.

🕑

Why hours go missing

Timesheets filled in on Friday afternoon rely on memory. The quick client call, the extra site visit, the design change discussed over email: small entries that are individually forgettable and collectively expensive.

📈

What you can recover

You will not capture every minute, so the recovery slider lets you choose a realistic share. Even recovering half of the leakage can be worth many times the cost of the software used to capture it.

How Quantim captures it

Quantim makes logging time the easy path: daily or weekly timesheets, a mobile app for on-site logging, and automated reminders, so hours are recorded when the work happens and flow straight through to fees and invoices.
